Central Bank of The Bahamas - Open Call

The Band Keeps Playing

Acrylic on Paper

30“ x 22”

Nassau, Bahamas 2011

The Central Bank of the Bahamas Art Exhibition Open since 1984

The Central Bank Art Gallery played also an important role in fostering young curatorial talent. Especially the organization of the annual Open Call exhibition (all artists over 18 years of age) and the High School Competition (with sometimes over 200 art works to exhibit) demands close oversight, an attention to detail and a knowledge of how to arrange and install such a broad spectrum in only a few days

Acceptance of the Open Call

From Highschool to Professional

From Highschool to Professional

This was my first time being featured in a prestigious opening, and I did so with little guidance on how to present myself as a professional artist. Fortunately, my mother had the foresight to professionally frame my high school artwork, which allowed me to present my work with confidence and care.

From Highschool to Professional

At the time of my acceptance into the Central Banks’ Open Call, I had recently graduated high school and stepped away from university, where I had been studying visual arts and art history. Simultaneously, I was competing professionally in judo, ranked among the top 150 athletes in the world. During the off-season, I returned home for much-needed rest and recovery, when a high school friend suggested that we both submit entries to the CBoB Open Call.
